Mariana Stern
I am an epidemiologist interested on cancer risk factors and understanding and addressing racial/ethnic health disparities for a variety of urological diseases as well as across the cancer continuum.
Jane Steinberg
My research interests are in tobacco control, cannabis regulation in public health, and health disparities, particularly as they impact youth/young adults.
Melissa Withers
She earned a PhD from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, a Master’s from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a BA in international development from UC Berkeley. Her primary research interests lie in community participatory research, mental health, gender-based violence, and global sexual and reproductive health. Dr Withers has published more than 30 scientific articles, is the editor of two books, and also writes a blog on human trafficking for Psychology Today.
Heather Wipfli
Dr. Wipfli focuses on how our health is connected to the health and wellness of populations throughout the world and researches how national and international organizations can improve the health the world's most vulnerable.
Britni R Belcher
My research focuses on how exercise, sedentary behaviors, and diet influence metabolic, cognitive, and mood outcomes in children and adolescents. I also study the factors that contribute to declining activity levels during the pubertal transition.
Sonali Saluja
Sonali Saluja, MD, MPH, Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine, a board certified in Internal Medicine at LAC+USC hospital and a health services researcher at The Gehr Center for Health Systems Science and Innovation. Dr. Saluja’s research focusses on health disparities as well as access to care for vulnerable populations.
David Galaviz
David Galaviz serves as Associate Vice President for Government and Community Relations. He is responsible for advocating on behalf of the university; establishing and maintaining relationships with local government and external leaders.
Parveen Parmar
Her research has focused on the study of health and human rights violations in refugees and internally displaced populations. She has supported health care for refugees and other vulnerable persons globally in multiple settings--on issues such as emergency care delivery, maternal and child health, gender-based violence, and primary care provision.

Anamara Ritt-Olson
Anamara Ritt-Olson is an Assistant Clinical Professor at USC in the department of Preventive Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine. She serves as the director of the Community Health Track for USC's Masters in Public Health Program. Her research focuses on adolescent health and well-being.

John P. Wilson
I am a geographic information scientist who uses GIS, spatial analysis and models to explore and improve our understanding of processes, patterns, and outcomes in coupled human-environment systems. Much of this work in recent years has focused on community and population health drivers and outcomes.
Sue E Kim
In addition to teaching courses in health care delivery and quality in health care at USC (Department of Preventive Medicine), my research projects have focused on health care service delivery and management, particularly with emphasis on cancer prevention and health care utilization in low-income and ethnically diverse communities.
Ricky Bluthenthal
I am a sociologically trained scientist who conducts health promotion and risk research focused on disadvantaged groups such as people who inject drugs (PWID), lesbian, bisexual, gay, and transgendered (LBGT), and the unhoused. My current funded research includes studies on cannabis and opioid substitution among PWID and opioid use among LBGT populations.
Albert Farias
My research is devoted to helping eliminate racial/ethnic disparities in cancer outcomes by furthering the understanding of how the provision of medical care contributes to racial/ethnic disparities in cancer incidence and outcomes.
Christina M Dieli-Conwright
My research focuses on examining the effects of post-diagnosis exercise on cancer prognosis with a specific emphasis on biomarkers related to obesity, lean mass, inflammation, and metabolic dysregulation.

Lilyana Amezcua
I am a neurologist and a clinical and translational scientist. My research interests include promoting minority research and community engagement, and addressing sociocultural factors in multiple sclerosis related disability.
Danica Liberman
My professional time is divided between my clinical work in the emergency department at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, teaching USC undergraduates and graduate students, and performing research and quality improvement projects focused on our patient population at CHLA. Currently, my academic activities include evaluating the Community Help Desk we have in our ED, describing our population of frequency users to our ED, and beginning as site PI a multi-site project to create an evidence-based guideline for emergent neuroimaging for pediatric patients presenting to the ED with headache.
Mel Baron
As a member of the clinical faculty, I served as the Director for the first level externship program, which I helped create. In addition, I am the co-director of the PharmD/MBA Program and responsible for teaching clerkships in Pharmacy Administration /Entrepreneurship and Health Care Needs of Special Populations.
Adam Leventhal
I am a clinical phycologist and public health scientist who conducts human laboratory studies, patient-oriented treatment research, and population-based longitudinal cohort research on addictive behaviors. My research spans the translational spectrum and addresses various points of addiction process, including substance use initiation, progression, maintenance, cessation, relapse, and recovery.
Todd Schoneberg
Todd Schneberk is an assistant professor of clinical emergency medicine and an assistant program director of the Los Angeles County+USC Emergency Medicine Residency program. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at LAC+USC Medical Center and subsequently earned a fellowship in health policy and research at UCLA. His research and advocacy interests include social determinants of health, immigration status as a health barrier, opioid use disorder and leveraging the Emergency Department to address upstream factors affecting the health and stability of vulnerable populations.

Psychological, social, and cultural risk and protective factors for health-related behaviors among adolescents and adults from diverse cultures and communities.
Charite Ricker
I am an expereinced cancer genetic counselor focused on the provision of genetics services in medically underserved and culturally diverse populations. My clinical and research interests are centered on expanding access to cancer genetics and genomics.
Rev. Jim Burklo
I serve as a chaplain to the university and create/support religious and spiritual organizations and events at USC. I am a writer/blogger focused on the interface of religion/spirituality and social justice, particularly on the subject of health care accessiblity, so the work of CHES is close to my heart, and I want to be as supportive of it as I can be.

Monica Perez Jolles is an assitant professor and health services researcher with training in implementation science. Her agenda examines access and implementation of innovative health delivery arrangements designed to address health disparities.

Priscilla Vasquez
My work focuses on physical activity, cardiovascular health, and brain health in Latinos. I have been involved in both epidemiological and community-based research.
Erika Garcia
My research focuses on the role of airborne environmental contaminants in the development of human disease, applying both traditional epidemiologic as well as advanced causal inference methodologies. My current research examines how early life exposure to ambient air pollution relates to pediatric respiratory health outcomes, including new-onset asthma, lung function, and fractional exhaled nitric oxide.
Lawrence Palinkas
Dr. Palinkas is a medical anthropologist with expertise in mental health services, immigrant health, and implementation science.
Carol Ochoa
My research focuses on issues related to health behaviors and the role of social determinants in promoting health and improving health equity among underserved populations, particularly in cancer prevention and control and immigrant populations.
